Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government has undertaken a significant reshuffle of Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers, transferring and posting at least 16 senior officials over two consecutive days across important departments and state-run undertakings.

One of the major changes includes the appointment of V. Arun Roy as the new Secretary for Higher Education, while S. Vijayakumar has been posted as Secretary of the Industries, Investment Promotion and Commerce Department.

These orders form part of a wider administrative restructuring affecting departments including Higher Education, Industries, Health, Animal Husbandry, Social Welfare, Tourism, Information and Public Relations, and Adi Dravidar Welfare.

V. Arun Roy appointed Higher Education Secretary
V. Arun Roy, previously serving as Secretary of the Industries, Investment Promotion and Commerce Department, has been shifted to head the Higher Education Department as its Secretary.

S. Vijayakumar takes over Industries Department
S. Vijayakumar, earlier Commissioner of Land Reforms, has been appointed Secretary of the Industries, Investment Promotion and Commerce Department.

Darez Ahamed becomes Health Secretary
Darez Ahamed, who was Managing Director and CEO of GUIDANCE Tamil Nadu, has been posted as Secretary of the Health and Family Welfare Department.

Anu George assigned Animal Husbandry portfolio
Anu George, formerly Secretary III to the Chief Minister, has been appointed Secretary of the Animal Husbandry, Dairying, Fisheries and Fishermen Welfare Department.

Mariam Pallavi Baldev moved to Social Welfare
Mariam Pallavi Baldev, previously Special Secretary in the Industries Department, has been posted as Secretary of the Social Welfare and Women Empowerment Department.

N. Subbaiyan shifted to Adi Dravidar Welfare
N. Subbaiyan has been appointed Secretary of the Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Department.

M. S. Shanmugam, earlier Secretary-II to the Chief Minister, has been appointed Commissioner of Tourism and Managing Director of the Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation.
